Call for Presenter Abstracts

Connect with a Multidisciplinary Audience in Early Childhood Education

Biennially, the Early Years Conference connects a wide-range of early childhood professionals with the latest research, trends, and topics in early childhood education. For 2024, we are looking for presenters to discuss their research or innovation in practice under the theme of Connecting & Belonging in the Early Years: Enhancing Relationships Between Professionals, Families, & Children.

Please Note: Presenters of accepted abstracts will be offered a reduced registration fee. Honoraria, accommodation, travel or other associated expenses are not covered by the conference.


Abstract Format

The presentation title, description, names, and affiliations should be provided as it should appear on the website and in the program.

Abstracts should be 250 words and should be submitted as either a Word or PDF document via the online submission form.  Submissions should highlight the main theme of your presentation and some of the objectives or outcomes for participants.

Abstracts should include:

For Submissions Based on Research Studies:

  • Purpose: Present main research questions, hypothesis (if appropriate), reasons for undertaking the research.
  • Methods: Include descriptions of methods/approach, participants, procedures, instrumentation (if applicable), data analysis, or the equivalent.
  • Results: Results in the abstract presented can be preliminary, incomplete (in process of data collection), and can include anticipated or speculated results. However, presentations should include results in some form.
  • Implications: Clearly present the “take home messages” from the research as it relates to the learning, health, and wellness needs of students with unique learning needs and their families in Canada. Keep in mind the conference theme.
  • References: Include approximately 3-5 references on which the current work has been based. These do not count toward the 250 words.
  • Learning objectives: Include 2-3 items that you anticipate those who attend the session will learn.

For Submissions Focused on Innovative Practice:

  • Purpose: Present the main practice to be shared in the session.
  • Approach to Practice: Include a description of the approach to practice that will be presented and a discussion of contexts for the implementation of the practice.
  • Implications: Clearly present the “take home messages” from the practice as it relates to the learning, health, and wellness needs of students with unique learning needs and their families in Canada. Keep in mind the conference objectives.
  • References: Include approximately 3-5 references on which the current work has been based. These do not count toward the 250 words.
  • Learning objectives: Include 2-3 items that you anticipate those who attend the session will learn.
